Dress like a greaser

I've said it a million times and I'll say it again: Simple is good.  Sure, there's a place and a time for fuss, but not in my day-to-day, thanks!

With my clients and customers, I've always relied on a list of basics.  Once you get a trusty team together, they all work together in beautiful ways that just make the dressing game so much better.  I don't have an endless budget (quite the contrary, in fact), so I need to make my pieces work in many ways.

My current favorite pair of jeans are these distressed AG Leggings.  Paired with a plain white tee and a trusty moto jacket, I feel put together and fuss-free.  I love a statement accessory, and my earrings from World Market give me just the edge I need.  My leopard flats are also brought out time and time again -- a comfortable basic that goes with just about anything.  Get my drift?  Altogether, I feel a bit tough... then again I do have all the makings for a classic greaser getup.... maybe without the flats!

So, this spring, think of versatility in your purchases!  Do you have a pair of jeans you never want to take off?  Basic tees in basic colors?  Jackets/blazers?  Anything moto-inspired is super "in" and will keep your look polished (and perhaps a little dangerous).  What are some of your favorites that you wear time and time again?

Yellow Sweater

After nearly two weeks of summery weather, yesterday it sunk back down into the fifties.  Nuts!  But it gave me a chance to wear one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe: my yellow sweater!  I scooped it up at Loft when it was on clearance, and it ended up being a great buy!  I'm in love with the color, and it begs to be accessorized with reds and pinks.  I also jumped on the light jeans trend with a pair from Gap that I've had for a couple years now.  Maybe it was a bit too chilly for sandals, but I loved how they looked! :)  Happy Friday, loves!

Salmon and Mustard

It's so beautiful outside!  I could run and jump around, leaping and bounding in the warm air!  Everything is green!  I always hear birds!  Mother nature is putting on quite the show recently, and I'm a lucky spectator.  At a time in my life where I need direction and clarity, I'm finally finding some peace with myself, and I feel like the weather is celebrating right along with me.

When I go outside and look up, this is what I see:



It makes me soooo happy.

It's also the last week of subbing for me, and I'm looking forward to some lazy mornings and days spent outside as the summer approaches.  My wallet might take a bit of a beating, but there's more free ways to occupy myself when it's this beautiful out.  Mike and I are so lucky to live by a beautiful path that goes on forever in several directions.  Perfect for bike rides and long walks and jogs.  I'd like to muster up the moxy to do a small bike trip (yeah, like overnight!).

Anyhow, my mood was definitely reflected in my clothing today!  I wore bright yellow and salmon.  Playing with the citrus colors has been an interest of mine recently!

Summertime Brights

Today is SO beautiful!  I was busy as a bee, but I had a great day.

First, I stopped by World Market and picked up this lovely new shower curtain for our master bathroom.  Here it is all ready to go!  I like the fun print, but I appreciate the calm colors.  It's beautiful when the light comes through it! 

I spent a few hours at Bella Caley, doing the boutique thing!  Lots of people out and about on a Sunday. All the while I was wearing this getup.  I got the dress from Zara in Paris on a trip there in 2009.  I love it to death.  The shoes are from Aeropostale!  My friend Miranda works there, and I bought them on a random visit one day. 

These earrings came from World Market, too!

We're going to finish off the night with a cookout with the future in-laws. I love that it's summertime finally! I really feel the most like myself with the sun beating down and the green being almost unreal.
