That's what friends are for.

Sometimes I forget just how well friends can know each other. Miranda and I have been through just about everything together over the past six years. We've done the heartaches, the road trips, the job searches, the long nights spent with a bottle of wine, the random silliness and the sweet summers.

After what had been quite a long week, Miranda picked me up at my house, took me to the grocery store, had me pick out some salads and fruit and then drove me away. She didn't tell me what we were doing or where we were going. We ended up at one of my favorite local spots, Herrick Lake.

Then, this happened:

We already had the blanket in the car, since we planned on watching the fireworks later on. It was so relaxing to just lay on the ground and enjoy the peace and the company.

After a while, it was time to head out. We packed it up and went to Oakbrook to watch the fireworks.

We sat and talked while we waited for the sun to go down. For two hours, I had nowhere to be, nothing to do, and we just talked. We talked about our pasts, the things that have changed and the things that have stayed the same. We talked about our futures and our dreams. I realized that it had been far too long since I'd really let go and just daydreamed.

Then, the fireworks started. I'd never been to these fireworks before and it was a great surprise! They were beautiful. I felt like a little kid. It was seriously the best night.

As we pulled up to my house at the end of the night, I felt grateful to have Miranda in my life. Sometimes I think she knows me better than I do.

Happy 4th, everyone!!!
