To begin this post, I'd like to thank you wonderful readers for staying with me throughout the lifespan of this blog. This is not my first blog. I've dabbled in writing a blog for over 5 years now. I love the sense of intimacy when reading a really good blog. I love feeling that I know the writer. It's like reading your favorite book, and new chapters are added all the time. It's awesome!
Being the author, though, sometimes I wonder what to write about. I wonder about what inspires me, and I wonder what my readers will be inspired by. I wonder if my blog should be solely about one thing (like fashion) or if it should span my interests. I feel in a period of flux. For a while, I only did fashion posts. But it started to feel disingenuous. I am more than fashion. But, dear god, please do not think that it doesn't move me! I love a great outfit just as much, if not more, than anyone!
I am not going to commit to writing every day. I've tried that, and it's only set me up for massive failure! I'm not going to commit to any number of posts a week, either. Because, sometimes, life just doesn't allow for that regularity. What I can commit to, though, is only posting about what feels real and genuine to me: blogging about the whole me, rather than just an interest or two.
That all being said, how awesome is the photo above?! I love all of the colors and the liveliness of the prints. I feel such movement and excitement from this photo! I've based my wedding off of some of these colors, and whenever I'm flipping through my Better Homes and Gardens (yes, I read it and love it!), it's photos with these colors that stop the page-turning.
What colors inspire you?
I love this and can totally relate.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been in blogland for 5 years, but I do know exactly what you mean when your writing feels ingenuous or like your forcing the writing and try to please others. I found that when you are just yourself and write when you want to write it comes out better than you know.
AND I love the photo! Great colors, and I love mixing those patterns.
I am personally reeeeally loving nudes and peaches right now. There is something about a good nude that is so just peaceful and sensual to me.
I loved this post, and look forward to reading more.
