Three goals

Between starting a new job and fighting my way through winter blues, it's been EXTREMELY difficult for me to sit down and write a decent blog post.  Seriously, I've tried every day.  Nothing comes.  That's SO frustrating!

I feel like I'm really in a mode of forward thinking.  I've got a lot on my plate, and with a new job, a new year, and a new life with my future husband coming up this year, I feel like this is the time to get a lot of things straight.  I have a lot of goals in mind, some big deal stuff, some fun little stuff.  Here's some of what's on my plate.

1. Yoga:  It's something that I discovered last summer.  I had tried it before, but never really connected.  It was a free class at the college rec center over-packed with too many people and an instructor who was completely out of my line of vision.  I didn't get the best taste.  I started practicing on my living room floor for about a month before I signed up for a gym membership, which is where I've been taking classes since.  But, again, this tricky past month has set me off track.  I love nothing more than feeling healthy and strong, so yoga it is.

2. Planning my wedding!  Yes, how did this make it to number two?  I don't know... I just thought of yoga first.  Whoops!  Well, this one has been on my plate for a WHILE.  Long engagement for us!  Turns out, the big day sneaks up on you like crazy!  Now we have less than five months.  I have a great image in my head of what I want at this point.... now I just need to be diligent and disciplined about following the deadlines I've set for myself.  (And keep going to yoga.... I WILL have toned arms.  I WILL have toned arms.)

3. Setting rules for myself.  There's a good reason we set rules for kids.  We want them to succeed.  I'm pretty sure that if I set some rules for myself I'd feel successful in following them.  Well, I think that over the last couple of years, I've learned what my rules should be.  I know I hate my messy tendencies.  My cluttered desk glares at me every time I pass it.  I know I hate it when I don't exercise regularly.  It really bothers me to feel unconnected if I'm not journaling or reflecting often.  I like going to bed at a decent hour and waking up with a full day ahead of me.  I like my laundry not all over my floor.  I like not running out the door at the last possible minute, sprinting to my car, carrying my necessities in my teeth.  This year I want to hold myself to a higher standard.  If I notice something wrong, FIX IT!  If I feel lazy, EXERCISE!  No lingering negativity about undone projects or neglected values.

What are your goals for 2013?  Do you feel that you have a strong sense of your values?  What are some of the things that make you feel the best?

  1. I like your goals for yourself; as it turns out I really should set some rules for myself.

I wanted to let you know that I've nominated you for the Liebster Award. If you would like to do it, you can check out my post on it where I've nominated your blog!
