Trendspotting: the new shoe you'll want to wear everywhere

What do these two have in common?  (Other than their adorable laid-back vibe, that is.)  I'll give you a hint, look down.  Trends come and go quicker than we can keep track, but I'm going to cling on for life when it involves comfortable footwear.  Far from the stacked platforms of 2013, the flat, comfortable, slip-on sneakers are making a stand.  And we are happily standing.

Interested?  But how to wear them?  Style them like you would a ballet flat.  Pair with skinnies and a cute top for a casual look, or with a simple skirt or dress for a flirty vibe.

Here's a little more inspiration to get your wheels turning:

How to wear tropical island prints

island life

After a wicked winter, this spring we are ready to jump right into warm weather, fruity drinks, bright colors and warm breezes.  It seems like an island-inspired element always surfaces in the spring, but this time around, I feel that it's especially strong.

Don't you love the vintage feel of tropical prints? Palm fronds, colorful fruit, birds of paradise...

Ok, so you don't want to look like a dorky tourist on a 3 hour tour?  The trick to this is to pick one element at a time and pair with neutral basics for a casual-with-a-quirk feel.  The hat alone with a basic grey tee and jeans is just cheeky enough, and you won't look silly.

If you're not ready to wear the island trend yourself, maybe your couch is?  I included a great tropical bird pillow from West Elm if you're wardrobe wants to stay on dry land.

What's your favorite piece?  How would you style this tropical vibe?

Jump for joy!

I always tell people that unless you're comfortable in what you're wearing, it won't look good.  Well, it's gone to a whole new level.  Enter the grown-up onesies that have exploded onto the scene for this spring.  I'm talking about jumpsuits.

They've had their place in fashion here and there, and in different shapes and volumes.  Now, the doors have opened once again.  I'm seeing a wide range of 'em out there, and I'm kind of eager to get my hands on more than just one.

Here's a sweet short version that would make for a great look for girls night out or summer wedding.  At first glance, it comes off as a pretty little black dress, but the shorts give it that playful vibe.  Paired with a simple sandal or a pretty metallic strappy sandal, it's set to go!

Here's a classic, vintage-seeming version that's perfect for the beach, pool, or summer barbecue.  Juicy Couture is known, at least in part, for their terry items -- and this is such a fun update from their now ancient-seeming track suit!  Love the drawstring and pockets!

My personal favorite: the black jumpsuit.  This one from Splendid strikes a great balance between dressy and casual.  The delicate fabric makes it elegant enough for a fancy date night or casual enough for Saturday exploring.  I love how it's shown: long layered necklaces and a lace-up sandal give it an edgy vibe.

This one seems so luxe!  I love the draping and the pattern.  What it lacks in length it makes up for in sleeves.  How perfect for a Sunday brunch or a shower?  With spring coming, it seems there are plenty of reasons to have a playful yet ladylike get up such as this.
