Creature Comforts

There is something about handmade critters... My uncle used to make amazing handpainted and carved animal sculptures, with wild colors and designs, often using uncommon objects to create texture, like bottle caps and nails.  In high school, I went through a bout of creating small clay figures sprung from my imagination.

When I found Abigail Brown on pinterest, I fell in love with her whimsical style and attention to detail.  All of her pieces are hand made, and they're just so beautiful.  In the age of mass-produced, this is seriously so refreshing.

I just love that last one.

Says Abigail of her work:

The Animal Kingdom is the inspiration behind all my work. I am fascinated by its rituals and language, a world of mystery and secrets on which we can but speculate. My fabric bird sculptures are a celebration of textures, patterns, colours and forms that delight me in nature.
