NYC End of Trip

I'm going to combine the last two days of our NYC trip into one post.  Now that we're back, I'm ready for the next project!

Anyhow, here we go!

We spent some time in Chelsea Market.  It was amazing!  Their Anthropologie is to die for, and it seems that its vibe continues throughout the market.  For being situated in such a bustling area, Chelsea seems somewhat ethereal and detached.  It was amazing!

These great lanterns lined the whole thing.  It's kind of like a big, long strip of little stores and restaurants all over... such as the amazing sandwich place where we got this:

And then there was this really cool waterfall thingy right in the middle of it all:

One of the greatest parts, I think, was the sample sale! This place was GREAT. Tons and tons of Free People things for next to nothing. I got a great top for $20 (coming soon to a blog post near you).

On our last day, I wore a pink dress and ate an ice cream cone.

NYC Day 3

On Tuesday, Mike and I ventured out to the Upper East Side to hang out at our friend Angela's place for lunch.

Then, we continued on to the Met.  It was CROWDED.  Have I mentioned that I'm a country girl at heart?  That place nearly gave me a heart attack!  It was an amazing collection, though.  The Impressionist paintings were (as usual) my favorites, but the Iranian ceramic tiles were astounding as well.  Maybe the most impressive, though, was the view from the roof deck!

To wrap up the day, we got some pizza from a place around the corner and watched reality T.V. until sleep overcame us. Walking around NYC takes some serious endurance!

NYC Day 2!

Yesterday was our first full day here in NYC.  It was BEAUTIFUL!  We started the day in Columbus Circle to check out the statue and meet our friend Angela and her BEAUTIFUL baby Jessie.

Then, we spent a great chunk of the day in Central Park. We spread out a blanket and I fell completely in love with the day. Under the shade of the trees, the temperature was perfect. I love how in the midst of a crazy busy city, there is this beautiful oasis of trees and nature.

For lunch, we found a GREAT organic food cart.

Then, we did a little window on the Upper East Side.... and this happened:

Then, Mike and I migrated over to SoHo for some MORE shopping.

Then, I picked up this puppy for $7 on the street!

After all of our adventuring, we were FAMISHED. We stopped into this great little bar and refreshed ourselves a bit.

While we were in the bar, my very first best friend walked in and shocked the heck out of me! Adam and I go back to the first day of kindergarten, and before yesterday, I hadn't seen him in six years. Seeing him was a blast from the past, and it was great spending the rest of the evening catching up! We moved on from the bar to yet another bar for some wine before dinner. Dinner was on the patio at an AMAZING Italian place, DaNico's. Mike's sister organized a wonderful group of people. Everyone who has been part of our NYC experience so far was there, plus a few more. We enjoyed the food and company well into the evening, and when we got home, we crashed into our pillows for a deep sleep. This trip has been nothing short of blissful, and I can't wait to see what today brings!

NYC Day 1!!!

Mike and I arrived in NYC yesterday, and it was a whirlwind of a day!  Our plane got in just around noon, and from then on we were on the GO.  We dropped off our things at his sister Erin's place and stopped momentarily to shake off the stifling heat.  We headed out to Times Square where we went into what I believe to be the most chaotic Forever21 in the entire world (it's probably the biggest).  We ate at  John's Pizzeria, and I had the tastiest Bruschetta ever!  After a close encounter with a very angry mommy at the movie theater, we headed out to Union Square and explored a bit.  Saw a street entertainer whose main schtick was to jump over a crowd of people.  It's impressive, but that it took him about 20 minutes to "warm up the crowd" before the trick kind of killed it.... anyhow....

Here's our first sight of NYC!

And, here's John's Pizza. It's actually built in an old church, so there's cool stained glass accents and the lighting is low and sacred. Sacred pizza.
