A (distracted) mission for chocolate

Some time before my wedding, my mom decided that it was in our best interest to go into the city and find chocolate.  At the time, it was probably to soothe my hormonal wedding stress, but the thought stuck with us.  Yesterday, we finally got around to it.

We centered our efforts around the chocolate troves on Michigan Ave., which meant a quick stop by the Fourth Presbyterian Church courtyard, a beautiful little oasis (with green space!) right in the middle of the concrete jungle.  Since my blog photos usually provide some kind of struggle in finding a decent backdrop, a few shots were necessary!

I was cold.  I lectured myself for leaving behind my bulky winter jacket, fearing at the time that it would cramp my style.  I was so excited to give new life to my wedding necklace that I didn't want to cover it up with practical things like scarves and hats.  Joke was on me!  However, being that I couldn't take more than 10 minutes outside at a time made for a great excuse to do a little distracted boutique shopping.

After a luxe hand treatment at Lush and a bit of trolling around, we stepped into Cusp, a Neiman Marcus boutique that I was so excited to check out!

My takeaway: great, great stuff!  Lots of great brands like Parker, Tibi, Robbi & Nikki, etc.  However, my favorite section was the SHOES!  Great variety, and they carry one of my favorites: Loeffler Randall.  Aren't these flats adorable?  They're calf hair, in case you can't tell.  Tres chic!  They also have the Alice & Olivia pumps that I'm dying for.

All in all, it was a great day spent with my mom.  My treasure for the day was a bag of truffles from Godiva, which are sitting ever so temptingly on my kitchen table, waiting for me to cave.  I think I'll save them for tomorrow's New Girl.  ;)

Revlon Year in Color Event

I was so excited to see this little invite pop up in my inbox:

It's not often that I make it downtown, and when we add in a night of girly fun and free drinks, I'm THERE!  I invited a few friends and we made a night of it.

Hand-passed macaroons and other goodies were a definite highlight!

The event was at theWit Roof lounge in the city.  We took the (very, very fast) elevator to the top floor, and found ourselves flung into a party, complete with a DJ and open bar!  The place was super decked out with all the colors from this year's color report.  Since Cambridge and Revlon teamed up for this, there were little displays showing all the newest goods from both companies.

Next to the bar, there were a couple little stations for mini-makeovers and manicures.  I indulged in a fab plum lip color.

It was good to have a girls night out, and to try something new!

Fall Fun Sunday

Today was such a great day!  It started with sleeping in.  I kept waking up thinking it was time to get ready for work, and each time was a sweet reminder to roll over and close my eyes again.  I stayed in bed until it became boring -- which took a WHILE!

With my husband being the gamer type he is, he wanted to check out an XBox event in the city where he could preview a whole bunch of games for the new system before it launches.  Needless to say, I felt a little out of place standing amongst all the gamers speaking a language other than my own, but I tried to get into it!

Afterwards, we stopped by one of my favorite lunch spots, Milk & Honey Cafe.  A pleasant sidewalk lunch and a few boutique stops later, it was time to go.

I love adventures and new experiences, so in my book, today was pretty perfect.  We're planning on grilling our dinner tonight, fully knowing that it might be one of the last times we get!  The cold is sneaking in, and the air today was almost chilly.  Fall is bittersweet with its beauty, but after a long summer of weddings (my own and others!) I'm ready for the change.
